The 2019 Optu marks the 20th anniversary vintage for Fidélitas and is bottled in a throwback design in tribute to our original 2000 Meritage. Sourced from some powerhouse Red Mountain vineyards this wine is a force in the glass although displays the elegance of the slightly cooler 2019 vintage, and tastes delicious now but should age for a decade +. On the aroma we get hints of baking spices, violet, and loads of red fruit. The structure is chewy and complex with the different varietals hitting all areas of the palate—it’s a joy to drink—red plum, strawberry, and blueberry capped off by a long finish and classic Red Mountain dusty tannins. Drink now with a 30+ minute decant or enjoy through 2035.
